WE VALUE OUR HOME WARRANTY CUSTOMERS
We really enjoy working with our Home Warranty customers. In fact, this opportunity has allowed us to developed many, many long lasting and valuable relationships. Likewise, it is our responsibility to help you understand the terms and provisions of your policy and make sure you receive the service you deserve. Yes, it can get confusing, but we are very committed to helping you sort it all out. Listed below are some key terms used when describing your policy coverage.
Home Warranty Company Terms
Waiting For Parts
Sometimes we need special order parts in order to properly service your home. In some cases, it takes significant time to receive needed parts and this can be understandably frustrating. Unfortunately it’s unavoidable. We do all we can to expedite prompt delivery of parts and material. So, please be assured we are constantly tracking your order and anticipating impending delivery so we can make needed repairs as soon as possible.
Non-Covered Items
We are all bound by what “is” and what “is not” covered according to the terms of your specific Home Warranty Coverage. Because an item is not covered does not mean all is lost. As a Home Warranty Company Policy Holder, we offer reduced rates on service and discounts on parts, outside the network of your Home Warranty Company. This is a valuable opportunity for you to receive cost efficient repairs from a performance proven company.
Cash Out
In some cases you may wish to “Cash Out” instead of accepting covered services offered by your Home Warranty Company. This simply means you will receive a cash payment from your warranty company so you can directly contract with someone of your choosing for work needed. This is something you must discuss with your Home Warranty Company.
Manufacturer's Warranty
There are times when manufacturer’s offer coverage for their products or parts. Billy’s Plumbing and Rooter will investigate the availability of Manufacturer’s Warranty Coverage and apply any benefits to items which are not normally covered by your Home Warranty Company. This valuable service is offered “Free of Charge” by Billy’s Plumbing and Rooter.
Secondary Damage
Secondary Damage is not covered by, nor is it the responsibility of your Home Warranty Company or Billy’s Plumbing and Rooter. You must contract for these services directly with an independent company. Billy’s Plumbing and Rooter is qualified and has extensive experience performing these kinds of repairs. Financial compensation or payment for the repair of Secondary Damage is not provided by your Home Warranty Company or Billy’s Plumbing and Rooter. Please call for additional information.
Environmental Hazards
Environmental Hazards, such as Mold, Water Damage, Asbestos, Lead and other types of contamination are not covered by, nor are they the responsibility of your Home Warranty Company or Billy’s Plumbing and Rooter. When contamination is suspected, Billy’s Plumbing and Rooter can recommend the appropriate testing and/or remediation company. Service provided by any testing and/or remediation company is not compensated by your Home Warranty Company or Billy’s Plumbing and Rooter.
Builder's Standard
An item described as being “Builder’s Standard” means that it is of general or basic grade and quality. No special upgrades, colors or styles are included.
Outside The Foundation Walls
Repair needs located outside the foundation walls of your home or structure are usually not covered by your Home Warranty Company. Typically these items may include, sewer piping, main water lines, irrigation piping, pressure relief valves, some hose bibs, etc.
Access
Opening areas to gain access inside walls through drywall and stucco are usually covered. Sometimes replacement of drywall or stucco is covered. Structural Components, such as shear wall paneling or framing members, may prevent access due to potential for compromise of structural integrity. In no case will Billy’s Plumbing and Rooter make access where the potential for structural damage may occur.
Code Upgrades
Sometimes items need to be corrected or “upgraded” in order to satisfy your city’s code requirements. Most of the time this has to do with water heater replacement. Several categories related to water heaters must comply with your city’s code requirements in order for us to “pass” inspection by Building and Safety. These items will be explained in detail by one of our customer service representatives.
